elinor [eli] lower (they/them) is a director, dramaturg + writer based in Bristol. 

Spanning theatre, film and other live + text-based forms, their work wrestles / dances with form, rebellion, queerness, environment, (multi)linguality, tenderness and teamwork.

Selected recent credits include I, Joan (Arts University Bournemouth), Phone Piece (Paraorchestra), and Opal Fruits by Holly Beasley-Garrigan (Bristol Old Vic / Pleasance Courtyard).

They were a member of the BFI NETWORK New Voices Cohort for 2025 where they developed the short film Tick Box, currently in pre-production. Their short film dawnbreaker was commissioned by the Exeter Phoenix’s South West Filmmaker Fund and premiered at Two Short Nights Film Festival in 2026. Their micro-short DEAD WIFE HUG won Best 48-Hour Film at Two Short Nights Film Festival in 2025.

They were the recipient of the 2024 Winter Residency @ Pervasive Media Studio, to develop a new immersive work: we meet in the woods.

They were the Interim Assistant Producer of New Work at Bristol Old Vic (2022-23), and lecture on Bristol School of Acting’s Theatremaking BA and Stage and Screen BA. They are a Script Reader for The Egg Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath and Bristol Old Vic.
